Mum Lauren told us “My experience with GBS began with a misdiagnosis from my GP during my time of pregnancy. Having three urine infections a week, I was constantly handed tablets and turned away, without any further testing taking place.
Eventually I was tested via swab, but this came back normal, or so they said. It wasn’t until I went to A&E at my local hospital, where they confirmed my swab wasn’t in fact ‘normal’, but I was diagnosed with group B Strep, and in fact I was 6 months pregnant (without knowing).
I was immediately told the risks of this towards my pregnancy, and with the luck of being induced early in hospital, my daughter, Robyn, was delivered safe and soundly thanks to the antibiotics.
