Reggie’s parents told us, “Reggie was born small, he weighed just 2070g, but he was perfect.
We stayed in the hospital for 5 days due to my PET (pre-eclamptic toxemia) and his size. He had observations and blood sugars which were all fine and weight gain on days 3 and 4. We went home and he thrived, he gained weight, fed well and was a very settled baby. Come his check at the doctor’s he passed with flying colours. We put our beautiful boy to bed one evening, he was just over 8 weeks old, he woke for his usual feed at around 4am. When we went to check on him in the morning our beautiful Reggie had passed away. This is the moment all our worlds feel apart. We attempted CPR but he was gone.
Many months later we receive results to show he passed away from late-onset GBS. We had no signs he was poorly, and then he was gone. A piece of our hearts died with our boy that morning. Something we struggle with every second of every day.”
