Gunnar’s mum Michaela writes, “During my pregnancy, I tested negative for group B Strep. I never thought another thing about it. I had a great Caesarean birth and got to bring Gunnar home within three days. After being home about a week, Gunnar spiked a fever of 100.6. I called our paediatrician, and he promoted us to take him to the Emergency Room. After extensive tests, it came back that Gunnar had tested positive for late-onset GBS infection in his spinal fluid. Luckily, we caught it early. After 14 days of antibiotics, we were sent home with no other treatments! He is happy and healthy.
I want to raise awareness that late-onset GBS infection is real and is scary! Listen to your gut and take your babies to the doctor if you feel it is necessary!”
