Mum Robyn writes,
“When Arthur was 10 days old he fell poorly at home, he woke up from his nap with a temperature and a high-pitched cry. We rang 111 for advice and they sent an ambulance.
Due to Covid 19 I had to go alone with him to the hospital while my husband stayed home with our other children, completely unprepared for what was going to happen next. Arthur was transferred straight for resuscitation and treatment was started immediately. We were told it was hour by hour whether he would pull through.
It was later confirmed he had late-onset group B Strep meningitis and sepsis. Arthur is my third baby and I had never heard of group B Strep before it happened to us. We spent two weeks in hospital and thankfully Arthur made a full recovery. We had to have a development check for his first year, but got the all-clear.”
