The Conference Scientific Committee invites delegates to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation at our 2024 Virtual Conference Group B Strep in Pregnancy & Babies
Group B Strep is the leading cause of severe infection in newborn babies in the UK. Our virtual conference on 15 May 2024 will bring together leading experts to talk about group B Strep, prevention policies, testing options, antibiotic usage, and the progress towards a GBS vaccine.
We are excited to announce that this year, all accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to be published without charge (usual APC $1,700) in Therapeutic Advances in Infectious Disease, the SAGE peer-reviewed gold open access journal. Our Conference abstracts are available online for 2022 and 2023.
We recommend you submit abstracts well ahead of the submission deadline (midnight (23:59 GMT) Sunday 17 March) 2024
Presentations of original data not yet published or presented elsewhere prior to the conference are highly recommended. We will consider abstracts related to 2023 and 2024 publications, contingent on compliance with applicable copyright laws with publishing journals. Authors are responsible for ensuring that there is no infringement of copyright.
Submission deadline: All abstracts to be submitted by midnight Sunday 17 March 2024
First Stage: Abstract Notification of Acceptance or Rejection will be by 5pm Wednesday 3 April 2024
Second Stage: Registration deadline for abstract authors is midnight (23:59 GMT) Sunday 21 April 2024.
Final Paper/Poster Submission Deadline is 5pm Wednesday 24 April 2024.
On or before Wednesday 1 May 2024, the author(s) of up to four abstracts selected will be asked to make a video recording with the GBSS team for presentation at the conference. If your abstract is selected, we will be in touch before the conference with further details and to arrange a time to record your presentation with us.

Yes, though a maximum of five (5) abstracts per author will be accepted for submission. Additional submissions will not be considered.
Abstracts which have been previously published cannot be submitted, unless there are new methods, findings, updated data or other acceptable reasons for submitting.
The allocation of oral presentations will be decided by the Scientific Committee and based on abstract scores. If you tick the box and opt for an oral presentation, you will be considered but may be offered a poster presentation instead. Should the first author be unable to present their poster, one of the co-authors should take over their responsibility.
No. Judging and allocation of the abstracts takes place through our online form, so only abstracts submitted online will be considered. If you are having any technical difficulties with the online form, please contact the conference secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org
No, there is no charge for submitting an abstract. However, the presenting author(s) of all abstracts selected for oral presentation will need to register to attend the conference in order to present. If an author registers for the conference on the condition that their abstract is accepted and the abstract is then rejected, the registration fee will be refunded.
