Provisional data for 2014 shows that the rate of early onset group B Strep infections (babies aged 0-6 days) remains at 0.24 cases per 1,000 live births in the US, a rate that has barely changed over the last 6 years. The rate of late-onset group B Strep infections (babies aged 7-90 days) was 0.27 cases per 1,000 live births in the US, a similar rate to that found since 1997. The US rate is of early-onset group B Strep infection for 2014 is 37% lower than that reported to Public Health England for 2013. We wait to see what the 2014 figure bring.
