SDLP MP Mark Durkan asked the PM in todays Question Time whether he will support rolling out group B Strep-specific screening for all pregnancy tests.
Mark Durkan said the PM campaigned for Group B Strep awareness – would he now encourage ministers to roll out routine testing?
The PM says two constituents raised it at a surgery in Witney when he was in opposition.
He claims the NHS does more now but ‘there are issues and difficulties in national programmes because of … the use of antibiotics.’
The PM also said that “I am happy to take this opportunity to look into what has been achieved so far and what more can be done, and then write to the hon. Gentleman.”
