Susan is Head of Talent Mobility at leading business adviser Grant Thornton and has already devoted considerable time and resources to help create much greater awareness of this preventable infection in newborn babies. Susan’s nephew tragically died eighteen years ago to group B Strep when he was only a few hours old.
She understands only too well its effect on babies and their families.”Too many babies in the UK suffer from this infection each year; the current NHS risk-based strategy is not working as too few mums are made aware of it by their health professionals and too little action is taken by the NHS to prevent it.”
Susan succeeds Debbie Slater who served as Chair for six years. Jane Plumb MBE, chief executive of Group B Strep Support says, “It was important to select someone who will bring tremendous commitment to the charity and Susan’s existing connection on the non-executive board, together with her tireless dedication will undoubtedly help make a difference to the charity and it’s campaigning.”
