Dr Eddie Morris, Group B Strep Support’s Chair of Trustees, has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to women’s health and patient safety in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Eddie joined the charity’s Board of Trustees as Chair in November 2020, while serving as President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). The charity worked closely with him around the publication of the 2017 RCOG guidelines on group B Strep, when he was RCOG Vice President for Clinical Quality, and in developing the joint patient information leaflet the RCOG and GBSS co-produced.
Eddie has 20 years of experience as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, and since December 2022 has been regional medical director for the East of England.
I am delighted and humbled to be awarded a CBE for services to improve women’s health care and patient safety. These have been the focus on my entire career and I am very grateful to the patients, professionals and voluntary sector organisations who I am privileged to work with and from whom I have learnt so much. I am also so grateful to my wife and family for their support and encouragement.
