Group B Strep infection is around twice as common in Black babies as in white babies. That is not acceptable and it cannot be ignored.
If we are serious about tackling inequalities in pregnancy and newborn outcomes, we have to talk openly about group B Strep. We have to listen to Black parents and communities. And we have to act, through better awareness, informed choice, and effective prevention.
The colour of your skin should never determine your chance of a healthy start in life. Conversations like this matter, and so does what comes next.
