The virtual International Symposium on Streptococcus agalactiae Disease (ISSAD), the second Global Conference on group B Strep is on 3-5 November 2021. Group B Strep is one of the top four major causes of bacterial meningitis in newborns, infecting at least 320,000 babies aged 0-90 days each year worldwide. This global conference brings together researchers, leading experts and families to share their knowledge, expertise and experiences of group B Strep. |
The WHO’s first full Value of Vaccines assessment report
Wed 3 November 2021, (1.30-5pm GMT) The World Health Organisation’s Full Value of Vaccines Assessment Report on Group B Streptococcus (GBS) will be launched on Wednesday 3 November and live-streamed here. A GBS vaccine will save countless lives and is vital to achieving the WHO’s plan to defeat meningitis by 2030. This report includes extensive new data and analysis done with WHO in partnership with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), funded by The Gates Foundation. |
ISSAD: THE SECOND GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON GBS
Thursday 4 & Friday 5 November 2021 (9.00am-5pm GMT) The ISSAD conference brings a comprehensive programme covering bench to bedside, regarding the incidence, burden and impact of group B Strep infection. It will include the latest science including vaccines development. Our Chief Executive, Jane Plumb, is leading the Parent Power stream on Thursday, which will include how advocacy has brought about change in high-income countries, the importance of parent advocacy in influencing change globally, the difficulties of setting up and running parent advocacy groups, and crucially families sharing their stories from Uganda, the USA, and the UK. Friday’s programme will end with the key challenges to address by the time of ISSAD 2023 – together with an announcement of where that will be! |
