In February 2019, our Chief Executive Jane Plumb MBE joined other experts from around the world for a meeting at Wilton Park. The three-day event, led by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Meningitis Research Foundation, was designed to set out what needs to happen to develop a global roadmap to defeat meningitis by 2030. You can read the full programme for the meeting here.
Group B Strep is the leading cause of meningitis in children under 5, so the development of a safe and effective group B Strep vaccine will be vital to help achieve WHO’s goal of defeating meningitis by 2030.
Following the meeting, Jane said: “I was very pleased to take part in the meeting, and share how important it is that the roadmap includes preventing group B Strep meningitis and sepsis. I’m honoured to have been part of the WHO’s extended technical taskforce on defeating meningitis by 2030 – developing a global roadmap. I’m looking forward to working with them to improve group B Strep prevention globally.”
