Sophie and a group of friends wanted to do as much as they possibly could to raise awareness of group B Step and honour Nova who was born sleeping in December 2022, whilst supporting her parents James & Acen.
Sophie told us ” I just wanted to let you now that we did it and are hoping now to make it an annual event to honour Nova and to raise awareness. We took part in the Sheffield 10k event to show our support to our very best friends James and Acen – although it is more appropriate to call them family.
They faced an agonising wait to find out what happened to Nova as last year in a mere 4 hours Acen’s healthy pregnancy ended in a nightmare with no answers. As friends, we see how they struggle every day mentally, physically, and emotionally. I could go on and on about the ways in which they have suffered and I could go on and on about how amazing they are, so any charity that supports families affected by group B Strep is amazing in our eyes and we will do anything to support it. All four of us had never run before so it was quite the task!”
