Rachel and Paisley took part in our Steps against Strep 62 miles in March challenge and raised over £500 for Group B Strep Support.
Rachel told us “I first became aware of Group B Strep Support in April 2019 after searching for information on the internet when we were told our daughter Paisley had contracted early onset group B Strep infection, at which point we knew nothing about the infection itself let alone any help or information that was available.
Since finding out about the charity Group B Strep Support I have thought many times about sharing our story and or looking for ways we could help, but I just haven’t had the confidence as always carried a lot of guilt for Paisley becoming ill.
While on Facebook I came across the 62 miles in March Facebook challenge and for me, with Paisley turning 2 in April 2021, and with covid restrictions still in place, I thought what better way to celebrate her birthday than to raise money and awareness for such an amazing charity so close to our hearts.
Paisley and I completed our 2 miles every day throughout March and absolutely loved it. We have also loved posting each day on our fundraising page, letting everyone know what we have been doing but most importantly sharing information to make our friends and family know all about group B Strep.
If you are thinking of fundraising for Group B Strep Support don’t hesitate please do it. What a lovely friendly helpful team they have. The information and support they provide is saving babies lives but they need our continued support to be able to do this. I only wish I knew about group B Strep before I was pregnant. I’m pleased that through our 62 miles in March Challenge I have managed to get my family and friends talking and raising vital funds. Paisley and I look forward fundraising again in the future.”
