Matt, Steve and Chris all took on the 2019 Prudential Ride London to raise funds for Group B Strep Support and awareness of group B Strep. So far they have raised over £1000 which is fabulous.
Matt writes “We took on the challenge of the Prudential Ride London 100 to raise money for Group B Strep Support. We also wanted to raise awareness of group B Strep after I lost my daughter Bethany Grace Hawkins to group B Strep infection in April 2010.”
After many months of training and a road bike lent to me, I only had a mountain bike, the day was upon us. An early start saw us up and out of our nearby accommodation at 7am. We had different start times which were a total of 12 minutes apart and had agreed to meet at the first feed station, this was 26 miles in. 26 miles later and we were together. Myself and Chris agreed to ride together as Steve wanted to go ahead to get a good time. The ride was enjoyable, relaxed and eventful. Steve managed to complete 94 miles after he was diverted due to an accident. Myself and Chris completed 86 miles due to diversions after a few accidents.
After 7 hours in the saddle we crossed the finish line with a great sense of achievement and would like to thank everyone that has sponsored us and supported us.”
