Matt Hawkins completed his first Half Marathon in memory of his daughter Bethany.
Matt writes “I ran in a time of 2hrs 14mins, which I’m very proud of as it’s my first Half Marathon. The weather was great and the atmosphere was amazing!
So, Why did I take on the challenge of the Basingstoke Half Marathon? I lost my daughter Bethany Grace to GBS in 2010 when she was just 2 days old.
I want GBS information to be readily available to all pregnant women and their families so they are aware of GBS, as we had never heard of this.
The pain I experienced during and after the Half Marathon will pass, unlike the pain of losing the a new born baby, which will never pass!
I hope the money I have raised will help and prevent other families to experience such pain.”
