Leona told us:-
“Our Edinburgh Marathon Festival runs are complete. Both myself and my 9 year old daughter Natasha competed the 5k run then completed the 9-12 year olds 2k sprint.
When Natasha was born, early diagnosis confirmed she had group B Strep meningitis. She was treated with antibiotics straight after birth. Meanwhile, I had developed severe sepsis and both of us were in Intense Care Units.
Natasha has been left with poor eyesight, which we didn’t know about until she was 4 years old. However, nothing holds her back and we have more runs planned for this year!
We wanted to raise money for Group B Strep Support because not enough is known about it with pregnant women. Please continue doing the great work you do!”
