Kerry held a bake sale at her work because she wanted to raise awareness and funds for the charity after her son was born with a group B Strep infection in November 2021.
Kerry told us “He has come out with no lasting disability that we know of to date and our hospital calls him the miracle baby. We had to be air lifted to GOSH in London 24 hours after he was born. I did not get to see Jacob till he was a week old and hold him till he was 4 weeks old, this was hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I had a caesarean section and did not think it was possible to pass group B Strep to my baby but my waters had broken which was something I did not realise. I find it incredibly hard reading stories about baby’s who did not make it. I’d give everything I had up to help find a way to prevent this infection and people going through what I did. Your charity is doing amazing things.”
Kerry had lots of people ask her about what happened to her son as none of them knew he had a group B Strep infection at birth, some took leaflets away with them which was great. Kerry raised £97.60 which is fantastic and will make a real difference.
