Katie tells us “I did complete the distance of a marathon and had some real fun doing it!! This challenge has shown me that I am not a runner but I will walk for miles!! Doing this has also given me a lot of time to think, reflect and take some time to myself and also had some great walks with my family. We even managed to walk up a big hill next to our house and took us 3 hours to get up and down again!! I feel honoured that I could raise some money for you and hope to help further in the future.
When I was pregnant with George I was told I had group B Strep which could be passed onto my baby during labour, and I was scared. Now I’m so thankful that is was detected during pregnancy, as it meant I was given antibiotics during labour and George was under observation for his first 24 hours and all was fine. So many families are not so lucky and many babies are poorly with group B Strep infection and sadly some don’t even survive. Raising money can help support those families and also help towards campaigning to make the test for group B Strep mandatory so that no little life needs to suffer again.”
