A huge thank you to John Young and friends who have raised over £3000 for Group B Strep Support by taking on an epic 18 mile walk across the Highlands in Memory of Aubree.
John told us:-
How and when did you become aware of Group B Strep Support?
At 6 weeks our daughter, Aubree, fell ill and was rushed to hospital then flown down to Edinburgh. We had never heard of it and just thought it wasn’t serious until she was flown to Edinburgh. She passed away 5 days later.
What made you decide to fundraise for Group B Strep Support?
The fundraiser was started to make people aware of group B Strep and hopefully help other people. It has as a girl my mum knew took a test while pregnant and tested positive. She will be getting monitored more and will have antibiotics in labour.
How did you find the fundraising?
The fundraising was good. I was amazed the amount that was coming in, even after the sponsored walk had finished.
If you could say one thing to someone who was thinking of fundraising for Group B Strep Support, what would you say?
I would say to people do it as nobody really knows about group B Strep, the more people that know maybe testing could be rolled out to stop this. I will be doing the Black Cuillan Munro’s which is 11 Munro’s in 4 days.
