Grace shared her experience with us:
“This time last year, I decided to sign myself up for the 2024 Cardiff Half marathon as a self-development goal, as at the time I was a complete newbie to running. I saw this as both a personal challenge and a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a charity that means a lot to me.
I knew I wanted to support GBSS after witnessing the incredible work they do for so many families, including my own. I set up a JustGiving page, and having shared it through social media, family and friends were incredibly generous with their donations.
As it was my first half-marathon event, I was incredibly nervous, but the atmosphere was electric. Running alongside so many fellow runners and receiving so much support from the crowd made it an unforgettable experience. Though it was both physically and mentally challenging, it was immensely rewarding. After months of training, crossing the finish line felt like a personal victory. I encourage anyone considering a similar challenge or this one to take part and raise money for such a worthwhile cause!”
