Codey shared her personal reasons for running the Swansea 10k for Group B Strep Support:
“The run went smoothly, and I’m so glad I took part. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the weather held off!
I participated in the race because my nephew, Sully, was born with a group B Strep infection. It was such a scary time! Thanks to quick treatment and two weeks in the NICU, he made a full recovery.
I want to raise awareness of GBS so more people are informed about this serious infection. Sully was incredibly lucky to overcome it, but many babies are not as fortunate. The goal is for the UK to introduce routine screening for group B Strep during pregnancy, and this is a small step towards that goal.”
