The Arla Great North Swim, at Windermere, has something for everyone, for all ages and all abilities, whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or a beginner. Choose your distance from Swim250, Half Mile, 1 Mile, 2 Miles, 5k and 10k, and join thousands of like-minded people and set yourself an open water challenge in the great outdoors at the UK’s biggest open water swim event.
For over thirteen years Great Swim has provided tens of thousands of swimmers with exhilarating, challenging and safe open water swimming events.

Swim Distances
- 250 metres – (10 lengths) – minimum age 8 years
- 1/2 mile (32 lengths) – min age 12 years
- 1 mile (64 lengths) – min age 16 years
- 2 miles (125 lengths)
- 5km (200 lengths)
- 10km (400 lengths)
Please note, participants must be a minimum of 8 years old for the 250m, 12 years old for the 1/2 mile, 16 years old for 1 mile, 2 miles and 5km and 18 years old for the 10km.
We will be with you every step of the way:
