The Great North Run 2024 is taking place on Sunday 8 September.
The 13.1 mile route is lined by thousands of spectators. The course starts in Newcastle upon Tyne and takes runners through the city centre, over the iconic Tyne Bridge and right out towards the coast in South Shields.
60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon – famous for its warm North East welcome and unbeatable atmosphere.

Own place
If you are lucky enough to get a place in the ballot, you can choose to run for Team GBSS. There’s no minimum fundraising pledge and you still get all the great team benefits when you set up your fundraising page.
