Donate or fundraise in memory of someone
When someone you love has passed away, fundraising for a cause can be a helpful way to do something positive.
Sometimes being able to channel energy into helping others helps people to deal with a part of their grief. It can be comforting to know that the money raised in your loved one’s memory will help Group B Strep Support with our vital work to eradicate group B Strep infection in newborn babies, and to support those affected by group B Strep. Over time, you may want to find some special way of remembering your baby or a special loved one.
Take on a fundraising challenge in memory
The day I found out my daughter Violet Esme was going to be born with no heartbeat at 42 weeks’ pregnant during labour in October 2017 was the day my own heart was shattered. In memory of Violet, this July I will be walking Mount Snowdon to raise vital funds for Group B Strep Support.
Taking part in a challenge event or organising your own fundraising event is a wonderful tribute and a really special way to remember someone special to you. Any fundraising activity can be dedicated to the memory of of a loved one.
Please visit our ‘Get involved‘ section for details of our sporting and challenge events, and other fundraising ideas.
Set up an In Memory fundraising page?
Setting up a In Memory page will create a personal tribute to your loved one while raising money for Group B Strep Support.
Set up your In Memory fundraising page via JustGiving, and contributions can be made to the fund through donations received at memorial services and funerals or any fundraising activity for Group B Strep Support. It only takes a few minutes to set up and, once it’s up and running, it’s a quick and secure way for people to donate and leave messages. Justgiving will automatically transfer the donations to GBSS, adding 25% Gift Aid (when eligible). Once you’ve set up your In Memory fundraising page, there are lots of ways you can share it with friends and family to collect donations for charity.
This November we celebrated what would have been Frankie’s 5th birthday. We wanted to do something special for what we felt was a milestone birthday, 5 years since we first met him, and 5 years since we said our goodbyes.
We held a charity ball at the beautiful Centurion Golf Club in St Albans and I think it is fair to say we celebrated Frankie’s birthday in style.
