“I was unaware I had strep B until I was being induced. My hospital folder had the strep b stickers but the hospital failed to inform me of this. I tested positive during a urine sample at 12 weeks.
Our little boy was born healthy, but an hour later started showing symptoms of GBS. His breathing wasn’t right. The next thing we knew, he was being rushed to the neo-natal unit in an incubator on oxygen. It was a very scary and frightening time.
I wished we would have had more information before hand. Our baby stayed on the unit for a few days on oxygen while having blood cultures & antibiotics. Everything turned out fine & we could take him home. He is now a happy 3-month-old baby.”
